Laboratory consumables - Gram stain

01
Testing principle
Gram stain was created by the Danish physician Gram in 1884. At that time, it was discovered that Gram-positive bacteria have thicker cell walls, more layers of peptidoglycan networks and dense cross-linking. After Gram staining, the complex of crystal violet and iodine can be firmly retained in the wall and is not easily removed by the decolorizing solution but remains purple. On this basis, the Gram staining reagent is formed.
Gram staining is a widely used identification staining method (counterstaining method) in bacteriology. It can be used for specimen pictures or colony smears. After staining, the bacteria are in sharp contrast with the environment, and the morphology of the bacteria can be clearly observed. , arrangement and certain structural characteristics, which can be used for clinical classification and identification. The staining results divide the bacteria into two categories: Gram-positive bacteria (purple) and Gram-negative bacteria (red).
Yulu brand rapid Gram stain reagent can shorten the staining time. Usually the entire staining process only takes a few minutes, and there are almost no artifacts. It is currently the best choice for clinical testing microbiology laboratories.
02
  expected usage
Mainly used for smear staining to distinguish Gram-positive bacteria from Gram-negative bacteria.
